Volt Festival, in which both foreign and Hungarian groups participate, is counted amongst the most significant Hungarian music festivals. Hosted by the town of Sopron, the event has been held in the first week of July every year since 1993. With over a decade of tradition, the organisers describe the main mission of the festival as to provide top quality, exciting and interesting programmes whatever the style. This provides space for rock concerts, stars of electronic music, world music performers, and jazz concerts to coexist quite happily with additional events such as film screenings and talks. The Volt Festival is a nationally renowned event. It received the 'Significant Cultural Event' title from the Hungarian Tourism Board in 2003 and the two main organisers were honoured with the 'For Sopron' award in December 2004. |
