Europe’s largest contemporary dance festival is turning Vienna into the hub of the international dance elite from July 16 to August 16. The program is top-quality, those hungry for movement are offered over 200 workshops, and the festival lounge becomes a meeting point during the long summer nights. You can visit it with us during our escorted tours " Prague - Vienna - Budapest - Bratislava - Prague " and " Prague - Karlovy vary - Dresden- Budapest - Vienna - Prague ".

ImPulsTanz specials are conquering new worlds even before the official start: On July 12, Vienna's Museum of Fine Arts is providing the "Stone Tiles" that mean the world for David Zanbraono's performance "Under-de-Colors". On July 15, Kerstin Kussmaul and Jan Burkhardt are opening the ImPulsTanz Festival Lounge at the new Novomatic Forum with a 21-hour performance. Here top DJs are creating a true party ambiance with a "Bollywood" theme while dance movies are shown under the title "Dancing Pictures" on thirteen evenings.

Savion Glover officially opens the festival in the courtyard of the Museumsquartier on July 15. The highlights of the ImPulsTanz month include Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker - the grande dame of choreography - with her Compagnie Rosas, Jan Fabres with "Orgy of Tolerance", Davis Freeman with his performance "Investment" that takes a critical look at consumption, and the Austrian choreographer Chris Haring with his Compagnie Liquid Loft. Samuel Beckett, the master of absurd theatre, inspired Maguy Marins to create "MayB", the most widely danced piece in contemporary dance.

The dancer Xavier Le Roy conducts the audience in "Le Sacre du Printemps" through Igor Stravinsky's work of the same title, by explosively and sensitively interpreting the gestures of the great conductor Sir Simon Rattle.  With his Compagnie I.D.A., the French choreographer Mark Tompkins not only presents his piece "Empty Holes" but also gives a live concert titled "kings & queens" - a mixture of karaoke and drag show. And there is much more to discover ...
